Stucco Wall Repair & Landscaping Design

The first priority in this job was to repair the several points where the stucco wall and the cement block foundation of this building were deteriorating. Second on the agenda was to replace an existing walkway with a more practical  and durable solution. Last but not least the landscaping needed maintenance and renovation.

Descriptions of the Process
Stucco Wall Repair:

To gain access to the problematic areas in the foundation, it was necessary to remove all plant material from the front and sides of the building. Some of this plant material was saved for reinstallation. A trench was dug all around the construction areas and the preexisting walkway was removed. The deteriorating blocks were identified, removed and new block were installed in their place. A new layer of stucco was applied flush to the original wall. A sealer was applied at the base of the wall at ground level to help prevent future damage. The trench around the building was filled in with gravel to ensure proper drainage and prevent moisture retainage.

Walkway Installation:

After the previous walkway was removed the ground was dug out and leveled. The shape of the walk was blocked in with plywood and rebar. The concrete was poured, leveled, stamped and carved. Once the concrete had set the it was colored and sealed.

Landscape Installation & Maintenance:

Initially all the beds were weeded and then the necessary plants removed. After the masonry work was completed, the garden beds were filled in with topsoil and the plant material was positioned, reinstalled and new complimentary plants were added according to the new landscape design. The gardens were then mulched to help with the plants stay moist and the beds weed free. New grass was then planted.
