Carpentry Technician

Responsibilities include a variety of job tasks including physical labor in order to manage the timely completion of Landscape Construction and Maintenance projects. A Carpentry Technician possesses the ability to supervise a crew of laborers and have knowledge of and ability to use a wide variety of both hand and power tools and equipment. In addition know and practice proper safety procedures, quality control, and productivity guidelines. A Carpentry Technician is expected to perform all aspects of framing and forming for structures, walkways, slabs, footers, etc. under direction of supervising position. They will perform decorative carpentry work under the direction of a Skilled Tradesman. Regular tasks include but are not limited to hand work in trenches, ditches, excavation sites, including measurements with laser level and various other tools for base preparation, forming, placement of reinforcing materials (re-bar, mesh, etc.) It is their job to accurately measure, cut, rip, and shape dimensional lumber and other material as directed by Skilled Tradesman or crew leader. They are expected to work construction on features, which may include but are not limited to concrete flatwork, masonry construction, paver or stone walkways, decks, retaining walls, and other structures. Has the ability to lift, carry, walk, stand, crouch, kneel, carry out strenuous physical tasks for prolonged periods of time and able to physically work shifts greater than 8 hours. (Seasonal work often requires shifts of 10-12 hours) Has capacity to work outdoors in various conditions including heat, humidity, rain, dust, bugs, noise, mud, snow and cold, and is prepared with proper attire including sunscreen, bug repellent, lunch, snacks and drinks for the duration of their shift.



  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in landscape, construction, or other related field
  • General knowledge of construction material
  • Ability to work on scaffolding and ladders
  • Required to have own set of hand tools
  • Responsible and dependable in actions and communications
  • Valid driver’s license including current copy of driving abstract; ability to drive truck/trailer combination
  • Willing to work flexible hours including an occasional weekend and out-of-town work
  • Must be able to pass a drug test
  • Must own a vehicle and have access to it regularly
