Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens Waterfall, Moon Gate & Rock Wall

In the fall of 2016 Chevalier was honored to be contacted and take part in the renovation of Houses 2 & 3 at the Historical Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens. We were thrilled to meet their challenge. After all it’s not every day you get to design and construct an interior hardscape let alone one for an institution over a century old. We transformed the preexisting Aztec-style waterfall into a natural Asian rock formation to better fit the greenhouse’s new Asian theme. We constructed a carved concrete Moon Gate that arches over the greenhouse’s winding path. And our final contribution, is a  retaining rock wall allowing a place for all the native Asian plants to grow. The most rewarding part of this project is knowing that our contributions can be enjoyed by all patrons of the Botanical Gardens for another 100 years!
